Happy Memorial Day

My husband volunteers his time once a week at the local Vet center to teach a writing class so that these Vets can learn to express what they have gone through during their time of service/war. Most of the Vets that my husband works with are Vietnam Vets and they have all gone through things that we, as civilians, could never imagine. I am so proud of my husband (who is also a Vet) for helping and encouraging these men and women to express themselves in a way that they never have before. Komo4 News heard about this group and decided to do a story for Memorial day. Watch the video below.

 

soccer

Konnor's other soccer league ended a few weeks back and he really wanted to continue playing so when I found out that the YMCA was starting a soccer league 5 minutes from our house, we had to sign up. Konnor is loving it. His two best friends from his class are also on his team so he is one happy kid. Here he is at practice today.

WWU Carnival

Western put on an awesome carnival today with tons of kid activities. The boys and I met up with Konnor's best friend, Zoe, and enjoyed a day together. I only took two photos (with my crappy phone) I don't have a smartphone yet.  My camera has been acting up lately and I might not have a camera for awhile (insert tears here) so this is all I got. Although it was nice to not feel like I had to take pictures of every little thing. I can get kind of obsessed with getting tons of photos of everything we do. So it was nice for once to not have to worry about that. 

There weren't a lot of activities for Murphy's age group but they did have a blowup bouncy train but for whatever reason Murphy was deathly afraid of it and would not go in it even with a little nudge from his brother. So Murphy just ran around or sat in his stroller the entire time we were there. Konnor had a blast though. Tons of bouncy house/slides/obstacle courses and other fun things.

In the last few months, Konnor has really gotten into the whole reading thing. I am so happy about it! He is now getting into reading beginning chapter books. He is also pretty good at stopping and breaking down a word to sound it out if it's too difficult for him. I am so proud of him! His dad and I love to read so I hope he continues to love it too.

K-2 Musical

A few weeks ago, Konnor's school put on a musical. It was super cute and Konnor did great (even though towards the end he started getting tired). So glad the music teacher put it all together. So fun. Below the photos are 5 videos of the songs performed.

AM Beach...again.

Since we've had such beautiful weather lately Murphy and I decided to head to the beach again today. This time we met up with a couple more moms and boys. What fun!

AM Beach

The first visit of the year to our local (5 mins from our house) sandy beach. We love it there! Murphy and I met another mom and her little one and had a blast.
