A success!

A week or so ago, I finally decided to try rice cereal for Murphy and it was a huge success! He was totally ready for solids. Today I decided to introduce a new food to see how he would do. I decided to start with sweet potatoes and it went really well. He ate the entire jar! I have a feeling I'm not going to have any eating issues with Murphy...knock on wood!

ready for santa

The cookies are baked and decorated and put out along with some milk and a note for Santa. Also read "Twas the night before Christmas" before bedtime. I think we're all set for Santa's arrival!

murphy rolling over

Murphy has officially rolled over! At 5 1/2 months old, he has finally decided to try and roll over. We are so happy. He is just growing so quickly and accomplishing something new every day. He simply amazes us!

visit with santa

The kids finally had their visit with Santa yesterday. Konnor has been asking me for weeks to see Santa but since he's been sick we hadn't been able to go. I finally felt like he was well enough to not spread his germs to Santa so we went yesterday. Murphy did super well. Did not cry once but it probably helped that he never looked up to see Santa. Konnor was super nervous. He wouldn't do a normal smile (out of the 3 or so photos taken this was the best one of Konnor. Murphy pretty much looked the same in all of them). Konnor super nervous to even talk to Santa. Not until the very end did he finally tell Santa what he wanted. Despite Konnor's nervousness, I think it was a very successful visit with Santa.

too big

About a month ago I pulled this 5T sleeper out for Konnor to wear and I could not get his feet into the sleeper. I thought about just donating it but Konnor really liked it so I just decided to cut the feet off. Konnor has always had large feet and apparently he still does. From now on I guess sleepers are out of the question.

exersaucer time

Murphy is starting to get the hang of the exersaucer. He loves to just sit in it and stare at the toys. He can even push the piano buttons on it which he loves. Soon he'll be running around in circles in it. My happy baby is growing up so fast!

so much love

I am so blessed that my two boys love each other so much already. Here they are spending some quality time together in Konnor's bed. Murphy just loves to stare at Konnor and Konnor loves to make Murphy laugh. I hope these two grow up to be best of friends. I love them so much!

5 months

Wow! Where did these last five months go? Murphy is such a character and is getting quite vocal. He loves to "talk" and loves people. I had to take him to the doctors yesterday because he's still having constipation issues and when we were in the waiting room he would not stop staring at one of the receptionists. It was pretty funny. He's already becoming a flirt! He weighs 18lbs 14 oz. He is also very ticklish esp. on the sides of his belly. He loves to stand up on my legs and he is so very close to rolling over from his back to tummy. He is such a happy and content baby. So very mellow and laid-back. We couldn't be more blessed.

christmas tree

As long as I can remember, I have always wanted to go to a u-cut Christmas tree farm but every year, we always end up getting one at one of the local grocery stores or from a boy scouts lot. So this year I was adamant about starting a new tradition and off to Stoney Ridge Farm we went. I was super excited and so was Konnor. We found the perfect tree and we even got it shaken and bailed. It is a beautiful tree and as soon as I finish decorating it, I will post pictures of the finished product.

growing up

In the last few weeks Murphy has been getting great control of his hands. He will try to grab toys and one of the most amazing things is that he will hold his bottle. I can't believe my 4 month old can hold his own bottle! We sometimes have to help him readjust the bottle but for the most part he can do it himself. He's growing up too fast!

my crazy boys

Aren't my boys cute? Konnor is so crazy. He insisted that I take a photo of them making a silly face too (Murphy didn't get the memo). I love these boys so much. I am so blessed.

4 months old

Murphy is getting so big! He went from being in the 50-60% in weight, height, and head size at 6 weeks old to being in the 90% at 4 months. He now weighs a whopping 18lbs 6oz. To put that in perspective, Konnor weighed 20lbs at 12 months old...yeah, Murphy is one big boy. He's 26 5/8 inches tall, and his head is 17 3/8 inches. He is wearing size 6 months and some 9 month (mostly sleepers) clothes. He is still in a size 2 diaper but he really should be in a size 3. I'm trying to use up all the size 2 diapers we have (about 50 left) before I move him up to 3 (trying to save some money). He is sleeping really well at night. Usually does a 6-7 hour stretch but last night he actually did a 10 hour stretch! Yay! During the day is a different story. He does about an hour stretch every 3-4 hours. He eats 6oz about every 4-5 hours. He still enjoys tummy time (for about 5-10 minutes max). He is talking like crazy and he smiles & laughs all the time. His favorite thing is to grasp his hands together and suck on them. Daddy can get him to laugh the best and he is very ticklish at the sides of his tummy. He's had constipation issues every since he was 6 weeks old (he was always in pain when having a bowel movement and he has torn a few times) but I think we have finally fixed the problem. He gets about 3 ounces of prune or pear juice a day and that has helped out a ton. Hopefully he never has to go through those painful bowel movements again. They were horrible. Murphy is still a very laid-back and happy baby. The only time he ever cries is if he is overly tired or hungry. I absolutely love this kid! He continues to amaze me every single day!

After I took the picture of Murphy with his bear, Konnor decided he wanted a picture with Murphy and the bear as well. So here they are.
As I was about to put the bear back into Murphy's room, I find Caesar cuddling with the bear. I guess he wanted a picture with the bear as well. That bear sure is popular!

murphy enjoying some music

A little video of Murphy watching an excerpt from "The Jungle Book". I just love his look of concentration in the video.

writing frenzy

In the last month or so Konnor has been in a writing frenzy. It is so cool to see him interested in writing his letters and writing words. He can now write almost all the letters unassisted. There are still about 3 or 4 letters that he needs verbal guidance for but other than that, he is doing it all on his own. Even when he wants to write a word, I just help by sounding out the word and he can usually figure out how to spell it on his own. My boy is growing up and getting ready for kindergarten!

It's kind of hard to see because he wrote it in yellow but his sign says, "open close the store". We were playing store yesterday and he used the sign to let me know when the store was opened or closed. He some times writes his "n" backwards...we're working on that and he wrote the "s" all by himself which he was super proud about because that has been by far the hardest letter for him to write. When he finally got it, he was so excited.

trick or treating

We had a wonderful time this year going trick or treating. We did our annual route. First we hit Fairhaven. We met up with one of our friends, Ayn, and her daughter, Carrie. The kids got tons of candy (Konnor's basket was almost completely filled). Then afterwards, we grabbed some dinner and then hit a neighborhood close to home. We were blessed with great weather and Konnor had a blast. Already looking forward to next year!

My new favorite photo of the four of us. Konnor wanted to be a soldier and asked his daddy if he would wear his uniform as well.
Our friend Ayn and her daughter Carrie.
The two soldiers.
Konnor thought this thing was pretty cool until it started talking.

Isn't Murphy aka the cow the cutest?
This was pretty much how Murphy looked the entire time we were out trick or treating. He was out cold.
Aren't they so cute holding hands?
The two boys walking around the neighborhood. Konnor enjoyed this part the best because he enjoyed knocking on the doors.
