new tidbits about Konnor
(this picture was taken today. the boys were hiding from me. i spent quite a long time looking for them and finally found them in the backyard. the only reason i found them was because i could hear konnor yelling "mom" at the top of his lungs. i guess they finally got tired of waiting.)Well, in three days Konnor will be 27 months old. Since he's had his splint removed, he has seriously grown a half an inch (in about a month). He is 35 inches tall and probably around 28 pounds. A month ago, he was still a little to short & not nearly strong enough to turn the door knobs completely and now he can open every single door. He can also reach the light switches on tiptoe.
Konnor is still doing amazing with the potty training. Since the splint came off, he goes to the bathroom by himself. I don't have to ask him if he needs to go he just walks to the bathroom, opens the door and the only thing I have to help him with is taking his pants off and sitting him on the toilet. He can now scoot off the toilet by himself. I've been thinking about putting a step stool in front of the toilet so he can get himself up there but since the step stool is what caused him to fracture his leg in the first place, I'm kind of hestitant right now.
This past week, Konnor has experienced his first "time out." Why in the world did I not start this sooner? It works sooooo well. After I give him one warning, he is usually pretty good about not doing the behavior again because he does not want to sit in time out. He is so hardheaded!
The reason I posted this particular picture is because Konnor's all time favorite game is hide and seek and it is the cutest thing to watch. He'll hide, usually somewhere in the wide open and as long as he has his face covered he thinks he can't be seen, or he'll throw his blankie over himself. Will or I will go looking for him and in a loud voice so Konnor can hear, we'll say something like, "Is Konnor hiding under the couch?" and then we'll hear him say, not so quitely, "uh uh". We'll do this a few more times and each time he'll answer us by saying "uh uh" and then we'll go find him. It's so stinking cute. And sometimes when he is hiding, he'll run along to find a spot and at the same time he'll be saying "hide" and he'll put his finger to his lips and say "shhhh". He has such a personality.
Some Konnor tidbits:
okay, it's late and i have probably bored all of you by now. i'll actually be amazed if you have gotten this far. i guess i just kind of got into a groove and couldn't stop typing. plus it's cool to actually write down all the fun things Konnor is doing now. i'm sure i'll look back at this and be glad that i wrote it. but to all of you, sorry this post is so long.

leg update...
Konnor's splint has been off since the 6th and he's doing remarkable well. He's still not walking yet but I wasn't expecting him too. The first day, he wouldn't even move his leg. Whatever he did, he kept his leg as straight as a board as if he still had the splint on. The second day, he actually started to move it around and he even started to use it a bit while he scooted around on the floor. Yesterday (the third day), he was pretty much using it all the time (except for walking). He was crawling with it, using it when he was driving his car, etc. Today was pretty much the same. Every time I tried to get him to stand, he'd only put weight on his right leg and wouldn't even let his left leg touch the ground. Right before I put him to bed tonight, we had a breakthrough. He was playing with his kitchen and he pulled himself up to a standing position and actually put a little weight on his left leg. The key is to not force him to stand/walk. I just ahve to keep telling myself that he'll do it when he's ready. The waiting for me, is the hardest because I'm so tired of carrying him around everywhere, my back is at it's breaking point. We are so very close though and I am so looking forward to the day when he can walk.
As for my back, I have an update. I went to the doctor's and had an x-ray done. They told me that I have degenerative disc disease. It definitely sounds worse then it actually is. This is actually one of the most common reasons people have back pain and it can be fixed or pain can be relieved without surgery. The number one thing is for me to get back to exercising. Life has just been so majorly stressful that exercising is so hard for me because when I'm stressed, I eat and the last thing I want to do is go for a run. But I do have quite a few pounds to lose and I know for a fact that if I lost some weight, my back would feel tons better. I also start physical therapy next week. I pray that this will help because the pills haven't. I'm sure part of the reason for that is because I'm not taking them! I just hate taking drugs and I took them for the first two days and all they did was make me super tired and I was still in pain and I can't be in that state of mind when I'm with Konnor all day. So, I'd rather be in pain then accidentally fall asleep while watching Konnor. Anyway, I pray that Konnor gets more confident with his leg and starts walking soon. I pray that I will be in less pain soon (I'd be happy with pain every other day instead of every day). I also pray that the stress in my life will be over soon.

daddy & konnor singing...hilarious!!!
I caught the boys having a singing fest yesterday. I took two short videos and I couldn't decide which one I wanted to share so you get to enjoy both of them. My favorite is the microphone props they use in the videos (a pen, a crayon & the remotes). Watch out...the Borego Boys are on their way to rock & roll stardom...or maybe not! Enjoy watching their goofiness anyway!
