Sue vs. The Rat

Will has this plastic rat that squeaks and for some strange reason Sue does not like this rat. He growls and hisses every time Will brings this rat out. One day Will decided it would be funny to mess with Sue so he took the rat out and showed it to Sue. This is what happened...it's pretty funny but kind of cruel at the same time. If you listen carefully, you can hear Sue growling the whole time...silly kitty!

maggie vs. sue

As I've told you in previous posts, the cats are not really liking the new arrangement, meaning Maggie. It's been about 6 weeks since we welcomed Maggie into our home and Bones and George are still staying clear of Maggie. We really only see them at night when Maggie is in her crate. George is the worst (rarely see him at all), Bones does come out once in awhile and sleeps on the bed with us at night, and Sue is doing the best so far. Sue actually hangs out in the living room with us but is usually on his cat toy or sitting on the other side of the living room to where Maggie is. Once in a while Maggie comes up to Sue and sits just a couple of feet in front of him and tries to be his friend but it rarely works. I took this picture last night, it was the closest they've ever been to eachother, so I had to capture it on film. Sue looks happy but he was actually growling at Maggie the whole time she was sitting there. I think he was getting ready to be in attack mode if she tried to get any closer. I'm just really looking foward to the day when they can sit next to each other without Sue growling. That'll be a day to remember.

the house continues...

to look better and better every time we go out there. I decided to show you a picture of the back of the house so that you could see the roof and the deck that is almost finished. As you can see the windows and sliding doors are in as well. The front door should be in no later than friday and the skylights will go in some time this week as well. Siding is almost done as well. The siding is complete on either side of the house and they already started on the back of the house. Some time early this week, Will and I are going to the paint store to pick out our siding/trim colors. So excited about that. Originally I thought we were going to be able to pick everything out but I just found out that we don't get to pick out our shower/bath. I was kind of upset about that because when I saw them yesterday, I wasn't impressed (they look like the basic apartment style bathtub) but I think we still get to pick out our bathroom sinks (hopefully), I need to find that out. Will saw that I was kind of upset about it and he reminded me that this isn't our "dream" home, it's our first home, it's not going to be exactly how we want it. After we talked, I felt better, I mean, we only plan to live there for up to 5 years. Anyway, I'm excited to see how well everything else goes. I promise to keep everyone posted.

what a beautiful day!

Today Will and I had the day off and what a perfect day to have off...it was cold but beautiful. Will decided to take Maggie for a run down to Boulevard Park. I met them at the little beach by the park and we let Maggie run around for a bit. This is a picture of the new pier right off of the park. This is our favorite spot to take Maggie. She can roam around and eat lots of seaweed (her favorite thing) and chase sticks. She's not fond of the water though. The first time we took her here I threw a stick in the water and she jumped right in. I think it freaked her out and now she won't go near the water...hopefully, she'll grow out of it...maybe once the water warms up a bit. She also loves to dig in the sand. We can't wait to take her camping...she'll absolutely love it. The rest of the day was good as well. We went grocery shopping (I bought a $2.00 scratch ticket and won $20.00! I was so happy. I never win anything. I'm totally on a winning streak. I won $20 today and the last time we went to Albertsons, I won $30. I'm on a roll! Afterwards, Will and I came home and had dinner with Rick (Will's dad) and watched "The Marine." It actually wasn't that bad of a movie even though it was made by WWE and Jon Cena was the star of the movie. I have tomorrow off as well. I love it when I have two days off in a row...Will has a funeral tomorrow (not until 3 pm) so we get to hang out tomorrow as well. We're getting our taxes done tomorrow (not fun) but it has to be done. Anyway, time to watch American Idol and see who gets voted off. Have a great night everyone!

more pictures of the house

The house is definitely coming along. This was taken a couple of days ago and by the end of the week the windows will hopefully be in and the rough plumbing might be in as well. Things are definitely moving along and quicker than I expected. So fun. We also picked out our roof color (was kind of difficult to pick since we don't know what color our siding is going to be) so we picked black. It looks good and it'll go with lots of colors. The roof should be going in this week as well. We'll hopefully go out at the end of the week and get another look at the amazing progress. I'll keep everyone posted. Now I'm off to go visit the dentist!

maggie

Maggie is so stinkin cute! We are so in love with her. She is a wonderful puppy. We've had her for about three weeks now and she is definitely a part of this family. She's about 11 weeks now and is growing so fast. She loves to cuddle with me on the couch and she absolutely loves to lay on Will's feet when he's hanging around on the computer. She's a fast learner as well. She hasn't had a mess in the house or in her crate for about a week now and we've taught her to sit, stay, and lay down. We're definitely still working on the training bit though. She still gets super excited when she sees other people or other dogs...so the sitting doesn't really work there and she still piddles when she sees someone new (but it is getting better). She's still a nibbler as well but only when she's super excited, hopefully it's just a puppy thing. She's such a sweet girl, she doesn't bark (except when Sue is really annoying her) and she doesn't whine when we put her in her crate. She's just perfect. Bones and George on the other hand are still having issues with her. They have started to come out of the bedroom when Maggie is awake but they still keep their distance (Maggie likes to chase them sometimes, which scares them...but she just wants to play). Sue on the other hand thinks he owns the place. He definitely comes out but he can be mean to Maggie. He'll just sit in Maggies way and growl at her and he's been known to swipe at her as well. Maggie is cautious around Sue but once in a while she still tries to play with him and then soon realizes that is not what Sue wants to do. Hopefully this will get better. Any suggestions anyone? So, the main issue right now is uniting all the animals. Anyway, Maggie is working out great and is a wonderful addition to this growing family. I mean, who wouldn't love her, just look at her face, she is so cute!
