getting there

Look at what Konnor wrote for the first time by himself! I'm so proud of him. I did have to give him quite a bit of verbal help (i.e. big line down, diagonal line...) but with that verbal help he was able to write his name. My boy is growing up!

catching up

This past week was pretty crazy.  So I am happy to have a few hours today to catch up on my blog. There are about 4 new posts below. I have one or two more posts I need to blog about but my computer (with my photos on them) just decided to quit working. For some reason, it's not wanting to acknowledge the mouse or keyboard. So that means I pretty much can't do any more work on my computer until that is fixed. Luckily, Will has a laptop so I am able to post this. If only I hadn't deleted my photos from my camera then I would be able to finish my blog posts on the laptop as well. Oh well, maybe I'll get lucky and my computer will start working again soon.

konnor vs. the step stool

Unfortunately, the step stool won. Today has not been a good morning for Konnor. He got banged up so much today. Konnor definitely inherited my clumsiness but I guess it doesn't help that he has to run everywhere he goes and climb on top of everything.

The first incident occured between Konnor and Murdock. Konnor was running down the hallway and Murdock decided to run after him and Konnor tripped over Murdock and landed face first onto the hardwood floor.

The second incident occured with Murdock as well. I swear, these two get into it more than I can say. Well, this time, Konnor was bothering Murdock and Murdock didn't like what Konnor was doing so Murdock decided to nip Konnor's nose and he also decided to give him a little scratch as well.

The third incident however, was the worst. I was cleaning the bathroom floor so I threw Konnor's step stool (it has two steps and is plastic) out into the hallway. It was sitting in the hallway upside down. As I was cleaning the bathroom I hear this crash and Konnor hysterically crying. I run out to see what has happened and sure enough the step stool is now on it's side. So, Konnor apparently decided to try and stand on the stool while it was upside down. Not the most sturdiest thing to stand on. Needless to say, Konnor fell down and smashed his eye on the leg of the stool. All I can say is thank goodness he didn't land directly on his eye. However, now he has a nice big bruise to show for his antics.

All of these incidents occured before 12 this morning so needless to say, Will and I were looking forward to Konnor's naptime.

Daddy made Konnor a robot costume out of a paper bag. Konnor thought it was the coolest thing ever.

new tradition...

Will and I took Konnor bowling today. This was Konnor's first time bowling. He was super excited to try it out. The lightest ball they carry is a 6 pounder. It was a little heavy for Konnor so daddy had to help him most of the time. Konnor had a blast. I'm thinking that this should be a new day after Thanksgiving tradition. While the rest of the world is out shopping on Black Friday, we'll be at the bowling alley. Make sure to check out the short video of Konnor bowling at the end of this post.

konnor & daddy sledding down the driveway

Photo and video editing at www.OneTrueMedia.com

happy thanksgiving!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Thanksgiving today! We were lucky enough to wake up to snow falling and it is still falling. We've probably got close to 4 inches. Which is nothing compared to what my dad has gotten at his home. We were actually supposed to head out to his place for Thanksgiving this year but he called a few days ago and had to cancel because they had 17 inches of snow! Crazy, huh?

Well, since we were stuck at home today we decided to spend most of the morning outside enjoying the snow. Here are some photos from our adventure this morning.

Our driveway is the best for sledding. Here are my boys going down the driveway.

Konnor and I posing for a photo.

Konnor wanted to try and pull Will on the sled as well. Will was obviously a little too heavy for Konnor.

thanksgiving at preschool

Konnor had a potluck Thanksgiving at school today. Will and I were both able to attend, which Konnor though was super cool. Here are some snapshots from the quick potluck.

Isn't this cool? One of the parents made it.

The kids & parents eating.

Konnor drinking apple cider.

Another parent brought sugar cookies for all the kids to decorate for dessert. Konnor enjoyed eating his cookie.

It's kind of hard to see but this is a quilt that the teacher made and every kid drew a picture. Konnor's is in the middle row down at the bottom.

snow

Konnor and I played in the little bit of snow we had yesterday. We had a blast even though it was freezing cold. Konnor's favorite thing was to try and catch the snowflakes in his mouth.

photos...

Konnor and I visited my good friend Melissa and her family this past weekend. We had a blast. Konnor just loves Melissa's kids especially Anna (they are 3 months apart). Melissa wanted me to take a few shots of her family. I think the majority of them turned out pretty well. These are just a few of my favorites.

counting

I finally got it to work. Yay! I had to upload it to one true media but at least I got it to work. Here is Konnor showing you how far he can count. Right now he can count up to 30 by himself. Although in the video he skips 30 (he was somewhat distracted because the tv was on). But as you can see in the video, with a little assistance he can also count to 39 and once I tell him 40 comes after 39, he counts up a little more. He could have gone all the way up to 49 but he was distracted by the tv again. Also, I've been working with him to say "thirteen" but he has a really hard time saying that number so it actually sounds like he's saying "fourteen" and "eleven" sounds more like...I'm not quite sure what but it's hard for him to pronounce as you can hear in the video.

spelling

I'm really into taking videos right now so you all get to watch them! I wanted to post a video of Konnor counting but for some reason, I can't get it to upload to my blog. I'll have to keep trying but in the meantime, here is one of Konnor spelling a few words and being a little silly as well.

Konnor is all about spelling. Some times I have a hard time understanding what he is saying and for awhile he would spell the word he was trying to say to me. However, every word was spelled the same. For instance, if he was trying to tell me he was hungry and I couldn't understand him, he would say, "hungry...S-T-U-V." This went on for quite awhile. Oh, and every word was spelled S-T-U-V. He just recently stopped doing that. He used to get so frustrated when I couldn't understand him, especially if he had to repeat himself. So, when he realized letters formed words, he started to "spell" the words I couldn't understand. It was hilarious.

reading time

There are a collection of board books by Sandra Boynton that Konnor absolutely loves. His most favorite one is Blue Hat, Green Hat. I remember the first time I ever read that book to him (over a year ago). He laughed so hard all the way through that book. I wish I had taken a video of me reading it to him those first couple of times. I had never seen him react to a book like that before.

It had been a few months since we read the book so I was suprised when he decided to add it to his pile of books he wanted to read tonight. I decided to see if he could "read" the book to me instead of me reading it to him. I was impressed. He read through the entire book over and over again. He thought it was the coolest thing ever that he could "read" this book all by himself. And as you watch the video, you can see that he still thinks the book is quite funny.

i forgot...

I forgot to add this video to the Yo Gabba Gabba post. It's just a cute little video of Konnor dancing along to one of the songs. Sorry it's a little hard to see, it was pretty dark at the concert.

Yo Gabba Gabba

Yesterday, the family headed down to Tacoma to see Yo Gabba Gabba Live. It's a kids show that Konnor used to love (he was one of the characters, Brobee, for Halloween last year). We got rid of our cable awhile back so he hadn't seen it in awhile and I wasn't sure if he'd still be into it (I purchased the tickets awhile back too, when he was still watching the show). I didn't need to worry because Konnor had a blast. Will and I enjoyed it about as much as Konnor did. It was a way better show than Sesame Street Live. We had some awesome seats as well, so Konnor was able to get right up into the action. Here are some snapshots from the show.

One of the characters, DJ Lance, wears these cool glasses. They were handing out these paper ones and Konnor and Daddy decided to try them on.

This is a very unique kids show and the songs are quite catchy. This was obviously a song about eating healthy.

At one point, they had balloons fall from the ceiling and Konnor thought that was the coolest thing ever. He tried to convince us to take at least 10 balloons home but we had to tell him he needed to share with everyone else.

Just like the tv show, they had guest appearances. Biz Markie was there, which was really cool.

Konnor enjoying the show with daddy.

The gang saying goodbye. Konnor was so sad at the end. He refused to say goodbye to the characters. He started to cry because he wanted to see the show one more time. I told him they had to go and he kept asking me, "watch one more time, mom." Needless to say, he had a blast.

busy, busy, busy

Sorry for the lack of posts so far this month. I have been super busy working away on Christmas presents and Christmas cards. I  know, it's kind of early but I want to get it all done as early as possible. This is a huge step for me because I am such a procrastinator especially when it comes to Xmas presents...but not this year.

I've already purchased everything on my list and now I'm almost done making presents as well. The last time I made my own Xmas cards was like three years ago so I'm proud of myself for doing that as well. I wish I could share some of the things I have been working on but then they wouldn't be a surprise for the people getting them for presents. I'll try to post some of the projects I'm working on after Xmas. I think they turned out pretty well.

I also wanted to say a quick "thank you" to all the Veterans out there (I'm a day late) who have served or are currently serving our country. The sacrifices you all make amazes me every single day. I am so proud of all of you...especially my hubby!

Hopefully I'll be back to my normal blogging in a few days. Have a great day!

obsessed with water

I couldn't get a good enough photo because Murdock decided to only stay in the tub for a minute or so and he wouldn't turn around for me but you get the idea. Our cat loves the water. I usually have to lock him out of the bathroom whenever I give Konnor a bath and especially when Will or I take a shower. This cat has been known to jump into the shower with me. I love my cat but I don't want to take showers with him. However, Konnor thought it was hilarious.
