a day in seattle

Yesterday Will, Konnor, and I met up with my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew in Seattle for a day of exploring. We started out at the Pacific Science Center. We had a great time exploring all the great exhibits. There were so many. We even checked out the planetarium (they put on a 20 minute preschool show). Even though I thought it was kind of lame, Konnor loved it. Konnor pretty much enjoyed all the exhibits. The only one he absolutely hated was the dinosaur exhibit. He did not want to be in there. We were literally only in there for about 2.5 seconds. He didnt' really care for the insect exhibit either. The only thing he liked in that exhibit were the bees. For some reason, he has a wierd fascination with bees. What suprised me the most was the butterfly exhibit. Konnor really enjoyed seeing all the butterflies flying around. One even landed on my brother's head and Konnor thought that was so cool.

After checking out the science center, we had lunch and then headed over to the fountain by the Key Arena. Konnor loved it. Konnor, Will, and Alex kept running up to the fountain and trying to touch it before the water sprayed out. However, Konnor didn't like it when he got wet.

Then we headed over to the arcade/fair rides and Konnor went on a ride with Will. He absolutely loved it. Konnor had an absolute ball. There was even a old school photo booth and of course, we had to take our picture. It turned out pretty cute. Once I get it scanned, I'll post it on here.

The folk life festival was going on as well. There were sooo many people. Konnor enjoyed all the musicians, balloon guys, wierd entertainers that were littered the area. There were a lot of yummy looking food vendors there as well.

We ended the day with ice cream and then headed back home. We'll definitely have to go back soon. Maybe next time, we can go up the space needle and maybe check out the aquarium and pike's place. Until then, here are some photos of our trip.

woodland park zoo

What a fun day! Konnor and I met up with my brother Pat, sister-in-law Martha, and nephew Alex in Seattle to check out the Woodland Park Zoo. This was Konnor's second time going (his first was last August) and Konnor was way more into it this time around. He even enjoyed going on the carousel, which he did not like the last time.

Konnor suprised me today. In one of the bird exhibits, you go into a room where all these birds fly around you. You can hold them and even feed them off of a popsicle stick. Konnor and Alex absolutely loved this. I thought Konnor would freak out but he thought it was so cool. Check out the video at the end of this post to see Konnor in action.

I captured some cool animal pictures today as well. All the animals seemed to be in a friendly mood. My favorite is the close up of the giraffe.

I learned something new today. When we were checking out the gorilla exhibit, we noticed two gorillas (the ones leaning up right against the window) eating something. At first all the kids that were around thought the gorillas were eating their own poop. Instead, the gorillas were just upchucking their food and then eating it again (it actually looked like big balls of vomit). For the 10 minutes or so that we were there watching them, they probably upchucked a good 5 times and after each upchuck, they would eat the food again. It was quite disgusting. I never knew this about gorillas, did any of you?

birch bay

These last couple of months have been pretty stressful and Will, Konnor, and I and we haven't had a lot of alone time so when we knew today was going to be a gorgeous day, we just had to get away and enjoy it with one another. So after Konnor's nap, we headed out to Birch Bay and boy was it beautiful. We hung out on the beach for quite a long time, collecting shells, throwing rocks into the water, searching for crabs, just having a great time. After the beach we had dinner and then yummy ice cream for dessert. We're hoping tomorrow will be nice as well so we can have another family day outdoors. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

My sweet boys. They are sooo much alike, it really is scary.

I don't know why Konnor decided to start doing this but he thought it was quite hilarious. He would put a rock on his back and then call out to us to check him out. I have no idea where he comes up with these ideas.

It's kind of hard to see in the picture but Konnor is holding a crab. I know, it's quite a shocker. When he saw Will holding it, he wanted to hold the crab as well. We couldn't believe that our son, the one who is afraid of spiders and flies, would want to hold a crab...but he did. We spent a good 20 minutes searching for crabs and every time we found one, Konnor had to hold it.

I have two short videos of him holding a crab as well but for some reason, it's not wanting to download right now, hopefully, I'll be able to fix the problem soon. They're fun videos.

After the beach and dinner, we headed over to a little ice cream/candy shop and had ice cream for dessert. As you can see, Konnor was loving his chocolate ice cream.
