all by himself

In the last week or so Konnor has been into writing his numbers. He has a workbook that he has been working out of every day for the past week or so. Not once have I asked him to sit down and practice writing his numbers. He just does it on his own without any help/guidance from me or Will. He just loves to do this. He thinks it's fun and pretty much loves it when I tell him how smart he is and that I want to take pictures of him working so hard so I can put it on my blog to show everyone. He is pretty much a pro now when it comes to his numbers. He can write all of them with ease and he can count on his own up to 199 and then once I tell him the next number is 200 he can count all the way up to 299 and so forth. He can even count backwards from 100 (although when he does this I have realized that he always skips the 5s, which I find really wierd). So, he'll skip 15, 25, 35, 45, etc...but only when he's counting backwards. My 4 1/2 year old loves to learn and I absolutely love that he enjoys learning. It sure makes it easy for me! Now if I can get him interested in learning to read he'll be ready for Kindergarten in no time.

Konnor working hard on his workbook. I love that his tongue is sticking out. Such deep concentration!
He wrote these numbers 1-35 all on his own today without any help. He said he only wrote up to 35 because he got tired and needed to take a break.

EMP

On Saturday Will and I packed up the kids and headed to Seattle to check out the EMP. Will had never been and we found out that they had a Battlestar Galactica exhibition (we are watching this series on Netflix right now) as well as a horror exhibition so we just had to go check it out. They also had an Avatar (we haven't seen the movie yet), Nirvana, Jimmy Hendrix and sci-fi exhibition. It was pretty cool and we were glad we checked it out.

This is a tower full of guitars. Pretty cool to see in person.
Konnor checking out one of the displays.
Will and Konnor listening to some music.
Konnor watching a short video on the history of music...I think.
 The Battlestar Galatica
 The cylon raider.
In the horror exhibition they had a scream booth. It took a picture of you screaming. We had Konnor do it and I think it turned out pretty well.
Konnor's favorite part of the EMP was all the instruments he could play. He liked the guitar.
 So did Will.
But Konnor's favorite were the drums. He told me he wants to be a drummer.

reading time

Konnor was trying to read to Murphy but Murphy was only interested in trying to get the book into his mouth.

more snow photos

The snow is finally on it's way out of here. It  might take a few days before it's completely gone and then we have the whole flooding thing to worry about but I'm so looking forward to it all being gone so I can get out of this house! lol. In the meantime, here are a few more snow photos!

The boys.

sippy cup

Murphy's first experience with a sippy cup. It went well. He checked it out for a bit and then put it in his mouth but kept chomping on it instead of sucking on it. He's definitely not used to the shape of the spout. He did eventually figure out how to suck on it but refuses to hold the cup for long. He'll get it eventually.

snowed in

Woke up this morning to all this snow! We have a good 12 1/2 inches! At dinner time yesterday we only had about 5 inches. Guess we're not going anywhere today. Konnor wants to play in it but I think he'll just get sucked into it! LOL!

snow...day one

These photos are from yesterday...our first day of snow. We maybe got a half inch. Not much at all. We woke up this morning and we have a good 3-4 inches and it is still snowing. Konnor is excited to build a snowman later today. Will post more pictures tomorrow. It's time to play now.

yum!

Murphy is getting really good at grabbing for his toys and binky and sticking those items into his mouth. Here he is enjoying one of those toys. Everything has to eventually end up in his mouth.

6 months old

Murphy turned 6 months old 4 days ago! I can't believe it! He had his doctor appointment yesterday and all went well. He had to get 3 shots and drink one vaccine. He only cried for maybe 10 seconds and then he was fine and he loved the one he had to drink. He was actually upset when it was all gone. Yeah, my kid is a porker.

He weighs in at 20lbs 1oz. He is 27 5/8 inches tall and his head is 18 inches. He is between the 85th and 87th percentile for his weight, height, and head size. I can't believe how big he is. He wears 9 month clothes but 12 month sleepers. He's still in size 3 diapers. He is a super happy, laid back baby. He is smiling, laughing, or "talking" all the time. He can sit on his own for up to 30 seconds at a time (sometimes longer). He can roll over from his back to his tummy and also from his tummy to his back. Hasn't done it in a few weeks though. He does like to lay on his belly though and move in half circles on the floor.

During the day, he still drinks formula (6 oz) about every 4 hours. About 3 weeks ago, he started eating solids. He loves eating! He gets one meal a day but I will probably bump that up to 2 feedings a day here shortly. He has pretty much tried every veggie and fruit and loves them all. Hope this continues when he's a toddler! He also still takes about 4 oz of prune juice a day for his bowel issues and last week started taking a teaspoon of Miralax a day mixed in with his juice. We've tried everything and nothing was working. We even tried medication but that wasn't working either. I was still having to help dig out his poop (TMI) and he was still tearing almost every time he had a bowel movement. So since he turned 6 months the doc decided to try Miralax instead of increasing the meds since Miralax is way better for him then the meds. He's been on the Miralax for a week and so far so good. All his bowel movements so far have been good ones and that's all I can ask for. I've hated seeing him in pain and not being able to do anything about it. Looking forward to him turning one so we can get him off of formula and on to whole milk (which will hopefully solve the poop problem for good)!

About two weeks ago, he was sleeping between 7-10 hours at night but then in the last few weeks he has decided to only do 5 hour stretches. Not fun! He was also still sleeping in the bed with me! I finally decided to change that yesterday and put him in his crib last night. He cried a bunch but I stayed strong and he stayed in bed the whole night (and did a 8 hour stretch). Although he did wake up crying a few times during those 8 hours but after 5-10 minutes fell back to sleep. He's been taking all his naps in his crib today and they have all gone really well (no crying). Hoping tonight goes better than last night. I need my bed back and longer uninterrupted sleep!

He loves his toys and loves looking at books. He also loves to stand and is still very ticklish. He loves to look at himself in the mirror and still enjoys his swing (which he's too big for but we still keep putting him in it). He is fascinated with Caesar and loves it when Caesar comes up to him and licks his hands and face. He is reaching for anything he can get his hands on and loves putting whatever he can into his mouth. No signs of any teeth yet but still drooling a ton. Enjoys baths and still likes being in his car seat. He is still in his infant car seat but will be out of it in the next few weeks (he's two pounds away from reaching the max weight) and then we will move him into Konnor's convertible car seat and get Konnor a booster. I love this kid so much. Looking forward to watching him grow even more in these next 6 months.

the park

We headed to the park this morning since it was going to be a clear day. It was super cold so we only stayed for a tiny bit but I was able to capture some photos of the boys.

This is Murphy's first time in a swing. I think he liked it.
My cute boys! I love them so much!

konnor drew my a picture

I love my crazy hair and hands and I love Konnor's ears. I also love that my 4 year old loves to write and has really good handwriting at his age. Maybe he'll be a writer like his daddy.

sitting by himself

This boy can sit all by himself now but only for about 30 seconds at a time before he flops over. He is getting so big so quickly. Before I know it, he'll be crawling!
