storytime

Murphy LOVES books. His absolute favorite thing is to look at books or for Will, Konnor, or I to read him a book. He loves it so much we can sit for a good 30 minutes just looking at/reading books. Tonight, he recruited Will for story time.

famous words

Every week in Konnor's Kindergarten class, his teacher introduces new words to the kids for them to learn how to spell/read. She calls them famous words. It can be one, two, or even three new words a week. So far, Konnor has been given 23 words in the two months he has been in school. Out of the 23, I knew he could already read and write 11 of these words. So, when he came home yesterday with a new list of all the words they had learned so far I wanted to give him an impromptu reading/spelling test to see if he was actually learning these words or just memorizing them. He was able to read them easily (out of order) so next, I gave him a spelling test. He got all of them right. So proud of him. He has grown so much in the two months that he has been in school. It blows my mind. It'll be amazing the see his academic growth come June. I just love that he loves to learn. I couldn't ask for more than that.

bus

Murphy loves to sit and/or stand on top of his toys. It is really annoying because almost all of the toys he tries to sit or stand on are not sturdy enough for his weight. I continually tell him no when he tries to do this but he just give me a look like, "what are you going to do about it?" He is such a trouble maker. Today, he thought it would be fun to sit on his toy bus. Silly kid. Some times he likes to try and put his foot in the inside of the bus and see if he can stand that way. He definitely has a weird fascination with sitting on any item within his reach. He is a funny kid.

"Mom, look how fun it is to sit on the bus instead of pushing it."
"Aren't I cute?"
"Okay, I'll play with it the right way."
"How about if I try sitting on the bus while it's upside down."
"What? I can't sit on it upside down either? You are not any fun!"
"You don't want me to sit on the bus anymore? Okay, I'll stop!"

it's the little things

We were at Konnor's school a few days ago to watch the Reptile Man show off his array of reptiles. Murphy wasn't in the sitting quietly and listening mood so Will took him into the cafeteria while we waited for the show to be done. After it was done, we found Will pulling Murphy around the school hallway in a cart he found in the cafeteria. Konnor wanted a ride too so off they went. The kids loved it especially when they went fast. We only did it a few times though...we didn't want to get in trouble. Getting a ride in the wagon was the kids favorite part of the night. It's the little things...
