Aunt Sarah flew back to Florida a few days ago and everyone came to the airport to say goodbye. Even Will was able to make it (he had drill but got home just in time to see his sister off). It was a fun couple of weeks having Sarah here. Konnor absolutely loved having his aunt around to play and cuddle with. Sarah, we miss you already!

swim lessons

Konnor had his first two swim lessons this past Monday and Wednesday and they went pretty well. He has a total of 8 lessons. I signed him up for the Parent/Child classes because I wasn't sure if he'd be comfortable being in the water without Will or I. I swam with Konnor the first day and Will was able to make it to the second class so he swam with Konnor.

So far, Konnor is doing pretty well. He loves the water and loves to be in the pool but when it comes to actually swimming, he's not too into it. On top of that, he absolutely hates to go under water. The instructor had us dunk the kids at one point and that almost ruined the rest of the lesson with Konnor. He was PISSED. Luckily, I was able to calm him down and he finished out the lesson.

I'm hoping that by the end of the 8 lessons, he'll be a little more comfortable with the water and then I will sign him up for 8 more lessons in the preschool class. I have a feeling that he might do better if Will or I aren't in the water with him. At least, that's what I hope!

The class is singing "ring around the rosie." They swim in a circle and then when you say "they all fall down", you're supposed to dunk the kids. Once we figured out Konnor hated that part, we stayed away from the dunking part.

Whenever we layed Konnor on his stomach or back, he would become stiff as a board and have this crazy look on his face like this was the worst thing ever. As you can see, he's trying with all his might to not get his face near the water.

This was pretty cool. There was a foam board that the kids sat on the edge of and we sang a song (can't remember what it was) and then they kids would jump off the board. Konnor definitely enjoyed this.

Konnor's favorite activity was to stand on the edge, count to three, and then jump into our arms. He was being super silly with Will and would get his feet as wide as possible before he jumped.

Konnor and I headed out to the park this morning to kick the soccer ball around. He loves to "play" soccer.

Konnor just learned how to spell his name. He was in a silly mood when I took this video but at the end of the video I finally got him to spell it. I'm so proud of him. Now the next step is to get him to learn how to write his name.

happy father's day!

Will,

I just wanted to let you know how much Konnor and I love you. I always thought you'd be an amazing father but to actually see you in action, blows me away. You and Konnor have such a great relationship. He already looks up to you in so many ways. When he knows you're on your way home, he always rushes to the window to see you drive up, yelling your name over and over again until you make it to the door.

Konnor loves to cuddle and play with you, especially the minute you come home. He loves to give you "elbows." He loves to sit on top of your shoulders when we're out and about. He loves to sit on your lap and watch YouTube videos with you. He loves it when you two lay under the covers together in bed and "hide" from me. He absolutely loves to dance and sing with you especially to butt rock music. He loves it when you throw him up into the air. He loves to wrestle with you, he especially loves to climb on top of your chest and then jump and land on your belly. Konnor also loves it when you chase him around the house. I could go on and on with all the things Konnor loves to do with you. Most of all, he just loves to be around you.

Everyone that meets Konnor always says how much he resembles you, not only in looks but in personality as well. It is the absolute truth. You two are seriously two peas in a pod. My hope for Konnor is that when he grows up and becomes a father that he can at least be half the father that you are. He is one lucky boy and I hope he never takes you for granted and I hope that the two of you always have one amazing relationship.

I never knew how hard it would be to get 4 adults, 1 child, and 1 dog to look at a camera and smile at the exact same time. After quite a few shots (I didn't post all of them) I finally got a good one (the last one posted) even though Rusty (the dog) still decided to not participate.

what a hike!

Will, Sarah (Will's sister), and I headed out this morning to Mt. Baker for a little hike. We headed out to Heliotrope Ridge for a 5 mile hike (2.5 miles each way). We had such a good time. We were super shocked to still see snow on the trails and not just a little bit here or there, but quite a bit. Even though the hike was fun we were disappointed because we were about a quarter of a mile from the top when all of a sudden the entire landscape was covered in snow to the point where we couldn't see the trail any longer. We were so close to the top that we wanted to try and make it but we just couldn't, mostly because we weren't in the proper snow gear. Oh well. Being up in the snow was interesting though. We got a little backwards and had to go a round-a-bout way and I so wish we had a video camera to capture those 30 minutes or so when we were trying to find our way back to the trail. Will had us pushing our way in between trees and sliding down slopes and grabbing on to anything we could find to help balance. It was pretty scary but something we'll always remember. Hopefully, we can hike it again later in the summer when most of the snow is melted. I really wanted to get to the top and check out the amazing views.

aunt sarah's here!

Aunt Sarah flew in from Florida to spend a couple of weeks visiting with all of us but she especially wanted to see and spend time with her only nephew, Konnor. It's been a little over a year since Konnor had seen Sarah but he totally remembered her and he loves her so much.

We headed out to Whatcom Falls Park today. We even went to the top of the waterfall to wade in the water. The water actually felt pretty warm. We played at the playground for awhile too. Here are a few photos of Konnor with his Aunt Sarah.

I brought out the original nintendo system (we have about 30 games) for Konnor to play and he absolutely loves "Duck Hunt." He's pretty good at it too.

a day full of adventure

Since we knew yesterday was going to be such a beautiful day, we decided we needed to be outside. So we ended up spending our day at Fort Casey (which is on Whidbey Island). I had been there once before with Will (the first year we were dating) so it was fun to go back with Konnor.

We didn't spend much time checking out the actual fort because Konnor wasn't too interested in it (maybe he will be when he's a little older) so we spent most of our time hanging out on the huge grassy area (we had lunch, flew a kite, ran around) and down at the beach (we threw rocks in the water, walked a gazillion miles, tried finding crabs, found a fort made of drift wood).

After Fort Casey, we headed to Oak Harbor to do some quick shopping at the PX and the commissary. Since we don't get down to Oak Harbor too often, we decided to stock up on some food and other necessary items (I love the commissary because it is soooo inexpensive). I'm totally willing to drive an hour for my groceries because of how much cheaper it is than a normal grocery store).

We then made a quick stop at home (we were there for maybe 20 minutes) so that we could unload our food. Then we headed over to a friend's house for a barbecue. After dinner, we walked to the local park so the kids could play on the playground. Then we finally headed home. We started our day at 9:30am and didn't get back home until 8:15pm. Needless to say Konnor was exhausted. He had so much fun though. I'm actually suprised he lasted all day especially with no nap. Tomorrow is supposed to be a beautiful day as well. Wonder what we should do...
