Christmas and some exciting news

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with their loved ones. Will, Konnor, and I had an amazing Christmas. It was so much fun to spend it with everyone that I love. What a blessing to have my family as well as Will's family so close by. We are truly blessed. Here are a few pictures of our fun festivities. This first one is of Santa and Konnor. His first Santa picture. He did pretty well considering the kids all around him were crying like crazy. I'm sure that'll happen at some point.

Here are some photos from our Christmas Day celebration. Will, Konnor, and I hung out at home and opened presents in the morning and then went over to Will's mom's house to have brunch, open more presents, we went to a movie ("I Am Legend"), and then had dinner at my mother-in-laws and then went home. We had a great Christmas!

I'm super excited to share some very exciting news. Ready? Okay, here I go...Konnor ate some rice cereal today and he liked it and ate it all. We are so excited. What a huge step. We first tried this about two weeks ago but it did not go very well. Over the last two weeks I've noticed him watching us eat and his tongue thrust isn't really there any more so I thought that I would give it another try today and Yay! he ate every last bit of what I made and he loved it. The first couple of bites he wasn't so sure but then after that he was loving it. Every time the spoon would get close to his mouth he would open his mouth up super wide and throw his arms and legs around like he was super excited. It was so cute. Here is picture of him after he finished his food. A lot less messier than I thought it was going to be but definitely not as clean as the bottle.

we celebrated christmas with my family a week early so everyone could get together. i think this is going to be a yearly thing. so much easier since so many of us have other families to see as well. i love it because it's way better than switching back and forth every year. this way we get to spend christmas with everyone. anyway, here are some photos from the doyle/dunlap 2007 christmas.

the killing continues...

If I wanted to gross all of you out, I would post a picture of what I saw a couple of days ago so instead I decided to post a cute picture of Sue. Ever since I posted about Sue being a killer, he has been bringing home lots of little mice. He really likes to leave them on our back porch for us to see. Isn't that nice of him? Well, he had a week or so of nothing (I was really happy about that) and then out of the blue a couple of days ago he came up to the sliding door with a HUGE squirrel in his mouth. It was seriously half his size and he just had it dangling in his mouth. I was too afraid to see if it was still alive (one time he came to the door with a mouse in his mouth and the poor thing was stilll alive and Sue thought it would be fun to play with it like it was some sort of toy) so I just walked away. I think something might not be right in his head. Anyway, about an hour later, he comes meowing at the door with nothing in his mouth so I decide to let him in. I had no idea that he decided to dump the poor squirrel by the sliding door to my bedroom. This is when Will thought it would be cool to take a picture of the squirrel (what for, I don't know). Anyway, I hope I don't have to see another dead animal for quite some time, but I doubt that will happen...Sue is in the holiday mood.

happy 1st birthday, maggie!

I can't believe Maggie is already a year old. We brought her home when she was only 8 weeks old. She was so adorable and so happy to be coming home with us. I never had a dog before so I was super excited to finally have one and what a blessing Maggie has been in our lives. She is an amazing dog but more importantly, a wonderful companion. I love her so very much. Every time I come home, she is waiting at the door to say hello and to give me kisses. She is always so happy and so lovable. She is the sweetest pup I know. Happy 1st birthday!

When I came home from work the other night, this is what I found. Don't they look adorable? It must have been a tough day (even for Sue)!

IT'S SNOWING!!!

the news reported that the cascades were going to get hit with snow tonight and tomorrow but i think they forgot to mention that we were going to get hit as well. it's 10:40 pm and it is coming down hard...and sticking. hopefully, it'll be gone by tomorrow. i can't imagine driving down my driveway with snow/ice on it. i knew i should have gone to the store for some ice salt.

a lot of stuff

First off, Konnor had his 4 month check up yesterday and man did he not want to be there. He was fine when we first got there but the doctor took forever to see us so by the time she came, he was hungry, tired, and just cranky. On top of that, he had to get three shots. Not fun. On the other hand, he is such a big boy now. He officially weighs 13 pounds, 8 ounces. His head is 16 1/2 inches, and he is 25 inches tall. Based on the "normal" chart, he is in the 50th percentile for weight and the 25th percentile for his height. The doctor said that she usually doesn't go off of the "normal" chart for a preemie but the nurse put the wrong chart in his folder. She said he's probably in the 90th percentile if you go off of the preemie chart. I can't believe how well he's doing. I'm so proud of him.

Secondly, I hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving. We had a great time except for the super long drive down to my dad's. It usually takes us 3 hours to drive to my dads but it took us 7 hours to get there. We left at noon on Wednesday and didn't make it there until 7 o'clock at night. We were beat. Konnor did pretty well in the car. We stopped twice to feed and change him but once we got to my dad's I think the stress of the whole day finally got to him. He cried for about 20 minutes straight and we couldn't do anything to calm him down. Now to some people 20 minutes might not seem like a long time but it is definitely out of the norm for Konnor. He just doesn't cry very often and when he does it doesn't last long. But after we all got a good nights rest, we were a lot better the next day. It was great to see every one and eat some really good food. The two pictures below are what I woke up to at my dads. Every thing was frosted and it was 10 degrees when we woke up but it was beautiful.

Yesterday Will's dad came over for a small Thanksgiving dinner with just Will, Konnor, and I. After dinner we put up our Christmas tree. Now I am super excited for Christmas. I can't wait to finish all my presents. Only four weeks left!

I don't know why but I have been in a video making frenzy. I feel like I need to capture a lot more videos of Konnor before I regret not having any. So, here is another one. It's not the best quality because there wasn't a lot of lighting in the house at the time but you can still see how stinking cute my boy is. He wanted to show everyone that he can roll over. happy veteran's day

First off, I just want to say how proud I am of all the veteran's out there for making our country safe and for protecting us and giving us the freedom that we have. If you know a veteran, I hope that you gave them a hug, a handshake, something, to show them that you appreciate everything that they do for you and this country. I'm lucky enough to be married to a veteran and I am so very proud of what he does. He truly is a hero. He might be heading overseas again some time in the near future and if he does go, I know that he will make Konnor and I very proud to call him a soldier that is fighting for our freedom. Happy Veteran's day to all the veterans out there. I truly appreciate everything you guys/girls have done for me and my family.

i love this boy

I can't believe how much this boy has grown. He's smiling a lot more, he's cooing, and he has laughed a few times as well (I haven't had the chance to see the laugh yet). He has figured out that he is in control of his hands (they are a great substitute for his binky), and he loves to make eye contact and if he could, he would stare at you forever. He is growing up so fast. I can't believe he will be four months on saturday. FOUR MONTHS! Where has the time gone? I wish I could spend more time with him but the bills are calling and I can't ignore those or we'll be living in a van down by the river. I just can't believe how much he's doing these days. It's like he comes up with something new every week. The next thing I know, he'll be crawling & eating solids. He's amazing, these moments are amazing and it's hard to miss them at least when he first does them. I just hope I'm there for at least a few of the "firsts". Anyway, enough of my self pity. I am super proud of him and I hope he knows that I cherish every second that I get to spend with him. He is a wonderful baby. I couldn't have been blessed with anything better because he is the best. I love him so very much!

halloween

So, this halloween was pretty exciting for Will and I. We threw our first Halloween party of the 27th and we had a blast. To the left is a picture of the best costumes of the night (Johnson & Dangle). Don't they look amazing? Loved it! Everyone who came that night had amazing costumes. There were pirates, police officers, zombies, naughty & nice, velma & shaggy, hermione, a gangster, a hippie, and borat. We're thinking this might be a yearly event. The photo below is a group shot (stole the photo from Holly's blog). My camera died on me right at the beginning of the night so I only had 3 or 4 pictures. Anyway, it was a blast and thanks to everyone who came, hope you guys had as much fun as we did.

On Halloween, Will, Konnor, and I stayed home and were waiting for trick or treaters so we could hand out candy but we only got 2 kids (and they were together) so Will gave them each like 4 handfuls of candy. They loved it. What's up with kids not going door to door anymore. What's the deal with kids going to the mall or going to Fairhaven to get candy. What happened to the good old days when kids would walk around the neighborhood and knock on doors. I still hope that happens somewhere because that's how Halloween should be. Maybe the kids just didn't want to come to our house because they would have to walk up our super steep driveway! Anyway, I hope everyone had a blast on Halloween and Will wants me to tell everyone that he is looking forward to next year.
