vegas baby, vegas

Will and I had a really good time in Vegas. Didn't take quite as many pictures as I had hoped but I did capture some good moments. We were there for five days and the weather, thank goodness, was fabulous the whole time we were there. We layed out at the pool every morning. We ate at some fabulous places (one of our favorite places was Toby Keith's bar and grill). Amazing barbecue sauce, which is my favorite kind of sauce. Ate at a really good italian place as well (can't remember the name) but I had some amazing lasagna. Had really good pizza and deli sandwiches in New York New York. All around, Vegas had really good food.

We gambled more than we thought we would, which turned out to be not such a great idea. We are so unlucky. We never win at scratch tickets, the lottery, bingo, NOTHING. I don't know why we thought we'd be good at the casino, we've never been before. So after the 3rd day, we decided to stay clear of the slot machines. Such a waste of money and it just makes us upset when we lose. Obviously, I'm a little bitter.

We walked around a lot (not to Will's liking) he had to take a break every 15 minutes. It was so funny. The strip is definitely longer than you think. We took the monorail to a few different hotels. Checked out a bunch of hotels. Amazing. Went on one roller coaster (New York New York). Made me sick afterwards so going on more rides was taken off the list. We saw two shows. Lance Burton's magic show (was pretty good) and we also saw The Phantom of the Opera (never saw this before and I absolutely fell in love with it...so did Will). Now I'm going to have to drag Will to some shows in Seattle. Went to Madame Tussous (sp?) Wax Museum. Took the majority of our pictures there (I think there's a mini book in the making). I'm sure we did some more things but can't remember at the moment. Next time I'm going to have to take a journal so I can better record our trip.

Will and I just had so much fun. We can't wait to go back and check out more of the strip. We stayed at the Excalibur which is at one end of the strip so we never got to the other end of the strip, too far away. So, we're going to have to check that out the next time we go. 10 months

Konnor is 10 months old today. WOW! Time to start counting down to his 1st birthday. My baby boy has grown up so much is the last month, here are a few things that Konnor is doing and likes/dislikes.

-he can crawl
-he can push himself up to a standing position
-he loves to talk/sing
-still loves taking baths
-still afraid of trees, grass, flowers (but is getting better)
-loves to eat big people food (his favorite right now is spaghetti)
-wearing 12 month clothes
-still loves to dance
-favorite "toy" is the remote
-loves to play peek-a-boo
-has four teeth (the top two are almost completely in)
-doesn't like to have his clothes/diaper changed
-still loves car rides (just bought a new car seat...so much better than his infant one)
-loves the "itsy bitsy spider"...he can do a lot of the hand movements with me
-loves drinking from his sippy cup
-likes to give Maggie his food (trying to discourage this behavior but Maggie sure loves it)
-loves to give kisses (but usually only when he is tired)
-loves watching tv/movies. His favorite is Sesame Street & he loves any movie that has music
-takes two naps a day (about 2 hours long)
-still sleeping through the night (about 10-11 hours...thank goodness)
-loves when daddy or I read to him & he loves looking at his books
-definitely has a mind of his own...loves throwing fits...but Will and I are getting better at ignoring them
-probably the most exciting one for me...he falls asleep all on his own!!!

Can't wait to see what he accomplishes in this next month.

milestones

Sorry it's been awhile since my last post. Will and I just got back from Vegas! Yep! We left Konnor with Grandma and Will and I went to Vegas for a week. It was nice to get away for a bit but I sure did miss my baby boy. I still need to upload my pictures from Vegas so when I do that, I'll blog about our trip.

What I really want to talk about is Konnor. In two days he will be 10 months old and he has achieved some major milestones in the last two weeks. The biggest of them all is that he is finally crawling. Yep! He will only go about 5 or 6 scoots at a time and he's still a little wobbly when he does it but he's definitely crawling and he loves it. He does not like to be put in his exersaucer anymore or be held all that often. All he wants to do is sit on the floor and crawl around. It's pretty dang cute. The video below is of Konnor crawling for the first time for Will and I. About two weeks ago he started to army crawl a few times and then when we were gone last week to Vegas, he decided to crawl for Grandma for the first time (I had a feeling this was going to happen). So when we got home on friday the first thing we did was put him on the ground so we could see him crawl as well. What an experience.

Konnor is standing up on his own as well. He has pulled himself up to a standing position by holding on to the coffee table and just this morning, when I went to go get him from his crib, he was standing. Time to move the crib mattress down to the bottom slot. I can't believe all the things that he is achieving. Will and I are so very proud of him.

throwing a little fit...

Yep! Konnor definitely has one strong personality and in this short clip you can see that if he doesn't get what he wants, he will let you know. It's his new thing. He is going to be one little troublemaker. I think I will definitely have my hands full but how can I resist his adorable face? I just can't spoil him but it's sooo hard not to give in. He's just so dang cute. I just have a bad feeling that one day he will be that kid in the grocery store, laying on the ground kicking and screaming (even though I swore I would never have a kid like that)....let's hope not! tulipphobia

Yep! That's right. Not only does Konnor have a phobia of ducks but he also has a phobia of tulips, or maybe it's more like tree/bush/flowerphobia. I've been wanting to go see the tulips with Will ever since I've known him and this year, I finally convinced him to go. We stop at Rozengarde first (but I was really looking forward to seeing the endless rows of tulips (we should have gone there first). Anyway, we get to Rozengarde and I start taking some pictures of the tulips and Konnor and Will are off to the side staring at a bush and all of a sudden Konnor starts freaking out. (I so wish I had my video camera with me). Will and I start laughing thinking it's funny that he's afraid of this bush but when Will bends down to let Konnor see/touch some tulips, he freaks out again. Doesn't want to touch them and especially doesn't want to be near them. I was really looking forward to getting some cute shots of Will and Konnor and of me and Konnor but that didn't really work out. He looks pissed or scared in almost all the photos. At first, I thought he was just acting this way because he might be tired but once we got back to the car, he was all smiles and back to his normal self. So, yesterday wasn't exactly what I was expecting it to be but at least I was able to see some pretty tulips even if it did only last about 15 minutes. Maybe next year will be a little better. Did I mention that I've been excited about this nice weather we've been having and that I'm excited to see him sit and feel grass for the first time? Well, I have a horrible feeling that he might have grassphobia as well. My poor kid. Anyway, here are a few shots that I was able to get. The last two are my favorite.
